Despite this, people are going to judge. You can’t stop them. But you can stop caring. Instead of worrying what others are going to think, embrace your quirks and guilty pleasures.
Surround yourself with people who love you for who you are and screw the haters. You should never have to start a sentence with, “No judgment, but…”
“Annually on 8 March, thousands of events are held throughout the world to inspire women and celebrate achievements. A global web of rich and diverse local activity connects women from all around the world ranging from political rallies, business conferences, government activities and networking events through to local women’s craft markets, theatric performances, fashion parades and more.”
I can’t believe it! My beloved chicken wing has turned the BIG 5-0! Chicken wing, you don’t look a day over 25!
The Buffalo legend goes that 50 years ago, Anchor Bar owner, Teressa Bellissimo, was asked by her son to create a late night snack for him and his friends, after a night of drinking. She cut the wings, deep fried, them, covered them with hot sauce and butter, and served them with a side of bleu cheese and celery. The rest, as they say, is history. And what a delicious history it is!
Chicken wings are now known around the world and are a staple at bars, pubs, and happy hours. The wings are served extra saucy, dry-rubbed, with fancy seasoning(s), baked, fried – you name it, people have done it and really, that is part of their allure! Sure they are delicious but their flexibility in how and when they are and can be served is really their trump card. (My favorites are the “medium/hot, lick your fingers over and over again because they are so darn saucy wings” and the charbroiled BBQ wings!)
Enjoy them in their many formats but please….PLEASE do not call them Buffalo Wings. While we Buffalonians are overwhelmingly proud that wings come from Buffalo – they come from chickens NOT Buffaloes (and don’t think I haven’t been asked if they were from Buffaloes because I have – too many times to be funny any longer). They are wings. Or chicken wings.

OH! Right now mark your calendars! The National Buffalo Chicken Wing Festival aka Wing Fest, will be held on August 30 & 31, 2014 in downtown Buffalo! This year will be my third year attending – it is SO MUCH FUN!!
So here’s to another 50 years and beyond, dear chicken wing. Thanks for putting Buffalo on the map and for being so darn delicious! (and for making me crave you at 10am on a Saturday morning!)
Happy Birthday Chicken Wing!
